International Studies
All students at the Institute for Art and Art History have the opportunity to complete parts of their studies abroad. There are various programs and funding opportunities for your project. Below you will find more information about the existing cooperations and the most common programs. We are also pleased to welcome international students to our institute every semester.
Studying at a partner university via the Erasmus program of the European Union
The Erasmus program, an initiative of the European Union, supports international study visits of a minimum of three and a maximum of twelve months in program countries within the European Union and in selected program countries outside the European Union. As Erasmus scholarship holders, students receive a scholarship to financially support their travel and accommodation costs.
The Institute for Art and Art History currently has subject-related collaborations with the following international universities as part of the Erasmus program:
Marmara University, Istanbul, Turkey
Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul, Turkey
There is also the possibility of a study visit to the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano, Italy, for the elementary school teaching degree program.
Worldwide studies
The UDE scholarship programs PROMOS and DUE-Mobil can support study visits of students at foreign universities (except in Erasmus program countries) with a duration of one to six months. The application is made at the UDE itself. The amount of the travel allowance and the monthly grant depends on the destination country. More information and details on the application procedure and deadlines can be found on the program website.
Information on funding options for international studies for which you cannot receive an Erasmus scholarship (e.g. BAföG, DAAD or Fulbright scholarships) can be found on the website of the International Office.
Other ways into the world: short stays as part of language courses, internships and summer or winter schools
In addition to a study visit, you also have the opportunity to complete a language course or a study-related internship abroad or to take part in an international summer or winter school. You can find more information about funding opportunities and the relevant application procedures on the International Office website.
Information for international students and prospective students
The International Office provides a range of information for international students and prospective students. It organizes a comprehensive range of courses, events and advisory services, some of which are available to our international students even before they arrive at their place of study. Please note that the Institute of Art and Art Studies currently only offers courses in German.
Further information and contact options
The UDE International Office regularly provides information about the various ways to study abroad in digital information events. Registration is not required.
Further information on the application process and deadlines can also be found on the pages of the International Relations Section of the Faculty of Humanities.
